Bathtubs: Undermounted…

A design element that I really enjoy, but don’t seem to see too often is the use of Undermount Bathtubs.  I think the application is very clean and adds such a sense of glamor to any bathroom. I love the idea of having a solid tub deck surface for easy clean ability and a sleek look.

This is a bathroom which I completed a couple of years ago using an acrylic undermount tub from MTI whirlpools and a honed Crema Marfil tub deck. I think that this is a good neutral palette and depending on the accessories paired with the space, can easily switch from modern or transitional.

Here are a few other inspirations that I found:

I think this is a stunning bathroom, from House Beautiful, designed by Steve Gambrel.  The combination of glass, Calcutta Gold marble, and a warm white is timeless to me.

This is a flickr find that displays a full Carrara Tub surround and open vanity.  I like the addition of the metal legs into the bathroom.  I think that a standard vanity with closed storage to the floor would have felt too heavy.

This is a beautiful cast iron version from Kohler, called the Parity.  I think the overall shape of this tub (how it tapers back out) is a detail that goes along way.  They display it in a very modern application, but the style possibilities with this tub are truly endless.

Hope you are enjoying your day! I love to hear from you, so let me know your thoughts!
